If you like your indica-dominant hybrid strains, then the Dutch Treat strain is worth checking out. Here we have a strain that, although the name would imply that it comes from The Netherlands, actually has its origins in the Pacific Northwest, where it was first bred.

It’s a cross between a popular indica and a hybrid, so its effects are mainly indica based, although you’ll get a bit of a cerebral high too. If you like sweet strains with relatively high THC levels, something that’s going to relax you and lock you into your couch, then the Dutch Treat weed strain is worth looking at.

What is the Dutch Treat Strain?

Dutch Treat is a strain that was first created in the Pacific Northwest, in Vancouver, Canada, as far as our research indicates. This is an indica-dominant hybrid that is roughly 80% indica, with just a hint of sativa. It’s a cross between two other very popular and tasty strains, Haze and Northern Lights.

It comes complete with up to 24% THC, so you know that it can be quite a potent package. There are many who use Dutch Treat for medical purposes, to treat pain, fatigue and sleeplessness, nausea, a lack of appetite, stress, and more.

Since it was first created, its popularity has spread across the world, and it is now a popular strain even in The Netherlands itself.

Dutch Treat Strain Appearance

The Dutch Treat Strain features buds of a medium size with an irregular shape. Unlike many other strains that may produce buds that resemble pebbles or small spades, the buds from Dutch Treat can take on many different and random forms.

The buds are quite dense, which means that they are hard and solid and can’t be squeezed together very much. The buds are also quite sticky, so you’ll need a good grinder to break it down. In terms of the color, although this is a strong and popular strain, it really doesn’t look like anything special.

The color here is a fairly light to moderate green, combined with a good deal of those orange pistils. Dutch Treat, due to having such high levels of THC, also has a good deal of white trichomes or crystals on the exterior, which is where a lot of that stickiness comes from.

Dutch Treat Strain Genetics

Dutch Treat is a very popular indica-dominant strain with roughly 20% sativa and 80% indica. Due to this, its effects are more or less all indica. The two popular strains used to create this strain, (supposedly, although not 100% confirmed), are Haze and Northern Lights.

First, we have Haze, which is a hybrid strain that is slightly sativa dominant, usually about 60/40 sativa, depending on the exact plant. Haze tends to have a very uplifting and euphoric high that allows for a good level of energy and creativity. It’s a pretty cerebral-heavy high, although it also has some indica characteristics.

We then have Northern Lights, which is one of the most popular indica strains of all time. Northern Lights can be pretty potent in terms of its THC level, and it’s going to make you feel relaxed, sedated, hungry, and give you a really good night’s sleep, although it does also produce a slight head high.

When combined, these two strains create Dutch Treat, a strain that is going to hit you pretty hard right from the first puff.

THC/CBD Content

The Dutch Treat strain usually contains somewhere between 19% and 24% THC, with the average being around 22%. This means that Dutch Treat is fairly strong and might not be the best choice for newbies just getting into the world of recreational cannabis.

If you are a beginner, just don’t smoke too much at once because it is going to hit you like a brick to the face. If you’re a seasoned smoker and you enjoy a fairly strong and intense high, it’s worth a try.

As for CBD and other cannabinoids, the levels are negligible.

Dutch Treat Strain Indica or Sativa

Dutch Treat is roughly 80% indica and 20% sativa. The majority of effects you will feel do come from the indica side of things, although you might also notice some effects associated with sativa strains.

Dutch Treat Strain Terpenes

Dutch Treat contains four main terpenes that produce a somewhat complex flavor profile. It features terpinolene, which is quite floral. It contains limonene for a bit of a citrusy kick.

It has a good bit of ocimene for some more floral-like flavors, and caryophyllene, for a hint of spice.

Dutch Treat Strain Effects

When you smoke or vape Dutch Treat, right from the first hit, you’ll feel a strong cerebral head high that is going to make you feel light in the head, happy, euphoric, and even a bit giggly.

However, that cerebral high is going to quickly give way to the indica side of things.

You’ll quickly start to feel a full-body high characterized by heaviness, relaxation, hunger, tingling, and tiredness. It’s one of those strains that will make you feel hungry, then put you to sleep.

Dutch Treat Strain Reported Flavors

When Dutch Treat is vaped or smoked, expect to taste flavors including blueberry, berries, sweet fruit, pine, and a slight hint of spiciness.

Dutch Treat Strain Growing Info

Dutch Treat is a rather sensitive plant as far as temperature is concerned, so it’s best grown indoors in a stable environment. If you do grow it outdoors, conditions must be fairly constant and stable.

Flowering time is usually around nine weeks, with plants reaching 5’ in height and producing up to 8 ounces. When grown outdoors yields can be considerably higher.
