Why Is My Delta 8 Disposable Not Hitting?

Delta Munchies Melonado delta 8 THC vape cartridge

Delta 8 is a chemical compound found in marijuana plants that is legal to purchase in the US. This cannabinoid is different than the usual delta 9 THC.

This compound can be found in various forms, like gummies, carts, and even vapes. Vaping can encompass multiple forms of marijuana – from dry herbs to e-liquids. Disposable delta 8 pens fall into the vape pens category but last shorter and are more affordable, making them an ideal choice for vapers on a budget.

Even though a disposable vape is temporary, it works like any other regular vape pen and tank. Delta 8 disposables, or D8 for short, are some of the most sought-after vapes pre-filled with delta 8 THC vape juice.

Like any other vape that can begin to malfunction, D8 disposables can also fail to deliver the expected hit. There are several reasons for that, and this article will go through them.

Why Do Vape Carts Get Clogged?

One of the most common reasons for problems regarding your delta 8 disposable not working is clogging. This happens because of a buildup of condensation inside the cart’s airway. Another reason for a clogged-up D8 is chamber flooding.

In both cases, you won’t get the hit you expect. Instead of the usual flavorful delta 8-packed puff, vapers end up with a repellent taste of bitter vape juice.

These are the main reasons your delta 8 vape is not working properly, so let’s discuss them in detail.

Build-up Condensation

Condensation build-up is one of the main reasons your disposable vape pen might be acting up. Inside the cart’s airway, the formed mass prevents air from flowing, renders the vape clogged, and blocks the mouthpiece from passing vapor as you draw.

Because your delta 8 disposable is not working correctly, you’ll end up with a mouthful of bitter vape juice instead of a nice hit.

The good news is that you can tell if there’s condensation build-up in one of your favorite disposables. If you feel more than vapor as you draw, like teeny-tiny specks of liquid lingering on your tongue, you’re dealing with a condensation build-up.

Chamber Flooding

The vape chamber’s flooding is another reason you can’t draw your vape properly.

If you haven’t used your vape cart for some time, it can cause the delta 8 THC liquid to thicken at room temperature. As time passes, it finds its way to the bottom of the cart, overflowing the wick and submerging the coil.

When such flooding happens, the coil needs more power to heat up the vape and deliver the vapor, which overworks the pen.

You can tell if there’s flooding in the vape chamber by not getting thick enough smoke and experiencing a less powerful hit. You also might end up with a foul taste in your mouth as you draw and even smell as if something is bu

If you sense any of these issues, you should immediately stop vaping. Otherwise, it might cause permanent damage to the cart and the contents of the vape.

How to Prevent Carts from Clogging

Say you are using your favorite Berry Gelato vape cartridge – to make it last, you need to take good care of it.

Each issue you might experience with your vape needs a different approach. Still, there are three common methods to apply to prevent your vape cart from chamber flooding and experiencing condensation build-up.

Clean the Mouthpiece

To clean the mouthpiece effectively, use a Q-tip or a small cotton ball to wipe it clean. You won’t have to clean it every time you draw, but it won’t hurt to do it regularly to keep your favorite vape free of clogs.

Take Small Hits

It is best to draw for a maximum of 3 seconds to help avoid condensation build-up. Smaller draws instead of longer ones will keep the longevity of the vape. Moreover, don’t forget to leave some rest time between hits to allow the mouthpiece to clear.

By taking more minor hits, you’re helping the vape halt possible condensation because the shorter your draws are, the less the vapor lingers in the mouthpiece. This significantly reduces the chances of condensation.

Take Dry Hits

To ensure you have done your best to keep your delta 8 disposable up and running, always see that the mouthpiece is clean before each hit. Take a “dry hit” before the coil heats up and generates vapor.

Drawing a “dry hit” works toward clearing out your cart because when you pull without “firing up” the vape, you’re extracting any stale moisture sitting inside. However, don’t overdo it with a “dry hit” because you might cause flooding in the chamber and ruin the wick.

How to Prevent Vape Chamber Flooding

If you treat your vape as an asset and maintain it regularly, you won’t have to deal with setbacks. If your delta 8 disposable is not working and you’ve made sure it’s not condensation build-up, the next reason for this problem might be chamber flooding.

Luckily, there are ways to ensure you have done everything to keep your favorite vape properly functioning.

Store your Vape Upright, Not on Its Side

Properly storing your vape goes a long way toward maintaining its functionality. If you plan on keeping it away for longer without using it, make sure you place it in an upright position and avoid leaning it in any way.

For instance, if you put your vape upside down, the cartridge contents will gradually come down and cause a leak, rendering your vape clogged.

Check Vape for Leaks

When it comes to your delta 8 disposable not working, it can be caused by a leak due to a loose vape cart. To prevent it, make sure the vape cart is airtight and there are no chances for the liquid to escape – even the smallest leak might lead to a flooded chamber.

If your vape includes a refillable vape cartridge, improper filling of it can also lead to a flooded chamber. On the other hand, if there’s an open-center tune in your tank, be careful not to spill any of the vape juice inside. Otherwise, you won’t be able to prevent the chamber from flooding.

Another cause for leaks is over-primed wicks. Just before you use a new vape cart, make sure to saturate the wick by drawing the vape juice without activating the device. If you don’t draw enough liquid, the wick will burn; if you pull excessively, you’ll end up with a flooded chamber, so be moderate.

Hit Vape Every Few Days to Keep from Clogging

Leaving your vape at room temperature for long times can cause significant damage, even more so if you’re not using it. Keep in mind that if you leave your vape that’s already been primed unused for more than five days, chances are the wick and the coil might become oversaturated.

Check up on your delta 8 disposable vape pen by utilizing it every day or two to make sure that there is no room for flooding the chamber.

Take Smaller Hits

Most vaping enthusiasts are used to dragging long hits while they vape. However, take smaller, shorter hits to prevent your vape from clogging. This way, the coil won’t “work overtime” to heat up the vape, and smoother, flavorful hits will be delivered to you.

Check if the Vape is Primed

To avoid clogging and hence end up with your delta 8 disposable not working, make sure the vape isn’t already primed before you decide not to use it for a while and put it away.

Remember never to store a primed vape cart if you don’t intend to smoke from it for over a week. Also, ensure that you have disconnected the cart from the pen and then leave it in a dark, cool place to be safe that the contents stay unaffected.

How to Fix a Clogged Vape Cartridge

Nobody wants to end up with a clogged-up vape while enjoying a premium delta 8 cartridge like the OG Kush. However, improper care may lead to this occurrence.

If your delta 8 vape is clogged, here are a few steps you can take to fix this problem.

Clogging Due to Flooding

Sometimes your delta 8 disposable not working may be due to flooding. As previously said, this causes a clog, obstructing your vaping experience. Here is a step-by-step guide to fix this:

Tap and Flick the Cart Sideways

The first step for a clogged-up vape cartridge due to flooding is to tap and flick the cart from side to side. This is to ensure the liquid is dispersed evenly and there’s no excess of it.

Blow Into the Cart

After following the first step, the next one is to blow into the cartridge. This would clear any liquid away from the wick and the coil. If you’re using a refillable cart, dislodge the chamber and clean any excess liquid from the coil before putting it back together.

Fire Up and Try to Take a Pull

The previous two steps will clean your cartridge, so the next one is to fire up the vape. Remember not to take long inhales, but a small, short drag. Press the power button and hold it down from 1 to 2 seconds to ensure excess liquids get vaporized without burning the wick.

If you have followed these steps, but the vape is still clogged, then it’s time to replace the cartridge or the coil and wick if you’re using a refillable tank.

Clogging Due to Condensation

If it’s not flooding, your delta 8 disposable not working can result from condensation-related clogging. You can fix this problem by following three simple steps.

Take a Hard Pull From the Mouthpiece

If your vape is clogged, the first thing to do is pull heavily through the mouthpiece but without turning the power on. This is to draw out any extra liquid lingering in the mouthpiece.

Remove Excess Liquid

To fully clean all of the excess liquid in the cart, you need to take one more step. For this one, you have to use a thin wire, a paper clip, or a pin.

Start by inserting the wire (or other tools) slowly into the mouthpiece and chafe out the sticky residue. You can move the device you’re using sideways and up and down the mouthpiece, but be mindful not to irritate the inside of the cart.

Since the delta 8 THC is dense and wiry, you’ll be able to get most of it without much trouble. The best time to perform this method is when the cart is completely cool, so the liquid is dense enough to pul out.

Remove Lodged Residue Trapped in the Vape

The concluding step of the de-clogging process of your vape will give an extra push for completely removing the clog.

To ensure you have done it right, heat up the cart but don’t expose it to a regular flame source. For this, you can use your hairdryer to heat up the cart gradually or put it in a zip bag and then in warm water. When you see that the cart is heated enough, place it upright so the excess liquid can settle at the bottom of the cart.
