The Wonderful World of Weed Cookies

Cookie edibles come in limitless varieties––any regular kind of cookie you can dream of can easily become an edible cookie. (Pro tip: you can even make weed edible cookie dough!)

THC cookies are probably the most popular, but pot cookies can be infused with pretty much any cannabinoid you prefer, such as CBD or delta 8.

You can also choose how much effort you put into making them––if you want something more low-maintenance, you can choose to use a boxed cookie recipe. But if you’d rather make some cookies from scratch while putting your own spin on them, you can do that too! The doors are wide open for your creativity to shine when it comes to making cannabis cookie edibles.

How to Make Weed Cookies

Before making weed cookies, you have to make sure you have your cannabutter (or weed butter) made in advance. This means choosing a strain that will be appropriate for the edible experience you’re looking for (like an uplifting Sativa for an outdoor adventure or a relaxing Indica for a chill movie day at home) and infusing it into regular butter to make cannabutter. Weed butter can be used in pretty much any area of traditional cooking, and in this case, it will go into the cookie mix.

Once your weed butter is all set, you’re ready to make weed cookies. We’ve scoured the internet, cannabis cookbooks, and even some old family recipes to develop the best weed cookie recipe ever. These cookie edibles are delicious, easy to make, and easy to customize. Follow along to make our favorite cannabutter cookies!

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 cup of your softened or melted premade cannabutter.

  • 2 ¼ cups baking flour of your choice (white flour, coconut flour, almond flour, etc.)

  • ¾* cup sugar of choice (brown, white, cane, stevia, etc.)

  • 1 large egg or plant-based egg replacement equivalent.

  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract.

  • 1 tsp baking soda.

  • 1 tsp salt.

  • ½ tsp baking powder.

  • Spatula.

  • Mixing bowl.

  • Baking sheet.

  • (Optional) ½ cup shredded coconut.

  • (Optional) 2 tbsps* of ground ginger or ginger powder.

  • (Optional) 2 tbsps of maple syrup.

  • (Optional) 3 tbsps* of cinnamon powder.

*Or however much you want––we don’t wanna tell you how to live your life! You can add more or less of these ingredients depending on your specific diet or preferences. These are just our recommendations.

  • (Optional) Parchment paper.

  • (Optional) Wisk or electric mixer.

  • (Optional) Ice cream scoop.

  • (Optional) Premade cookie mix.*

*We know that not everyone has access to these ingredients or has the time to make cookies from scratch, so you can easily make weed cookies with any prepackaged cookie mix––just use your cannabutter in place of the regular butter as per the package recipe, and you’re good to go!

What You’ll Need to Do:

  • Step 1: Heat your oven no higher than 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Your weed should have already been decarboxylated during the cannabutter cooking process, so any additional or excessive heat may reduce the potency of your edibles.

  • Step 2: Melt your cannabutter in the microwave (or at least let it warm up to room temperature.) This will make the mixing process much easier and allow the butter to be evenly distributed throughout the cookie mix.

  • Step 3: Combine dry ingredients. In a mixing bowl, combine your flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly until evenly distributed and set aside.

  • Step 4: Combine wet ingredients. Add your melted cannabutter with your brown sugar and beat until fluffy. This will be easiest with a hand mixer but can also be done manually with a whisk, fork, or spoon.

  • Step 5: Add your egg and vanilla and mix until fully incorporated. Then, fold in your dry ingredients until you’ve created a fully formed dough.

  • Step 6: Add your goodies. This is where you can be creative! We’ve recommended adding cinnamon, ginger, maple syrup, and shredded coconut for ours––but don’t let that box you in! You can add chocolate chips, nuts, candies, or any kind of garnish that you’d like. (Pro tip: this is also the perfect opportunity to add a delta 8 tincture!)

  • Step 7: Prep your baking sheet. You can either use parchment paper or you can use oil or butter on the pan. (Though it’s tempting, we don’t recommend using your cannabutter for this one, as it would mostly just cook off in the heat of the oven and be wasted.)

  • Step 8: Make cookie dough balls roughly 1 inch in diameter on your baking sheet at least 3 inches apart. (Pro tip: if you have a small ice cream scoop, this is an excellent opportunity to use it. Small ice cream scoops make the perfect cookie batter portions and make it so easy to scoop!)

  • Step 9: Cook at 350 degrees Farenheight for 10-15 minutes. Keep the cookies in a bit shorter if you like them on the softer side, or a bit longer if you want them on the crispier side. (Pro tip: periodically check them with a toothpick to make sure they’re fully cooked on the inside. If the cookie is undercooked, it will leave dough on the toothpick. If the toothpick comes out clean, they’re ready to go!)

  • Step 10: Once they’re done, take the cookies out and let them rest, and cool for 5-10 minutes. Then, you’re ready to enjoy your weed cookies!
