Does HHC Make You High?

Delta Munchies' HHC products on a multicolored spiral background.

When people think of cannabis, they usually refer to THC and CBD, the two most commonly known cannabinoids. However, there are well over 100 cannabinoids in cannabis, with HHC being one of the lesser-known ones.

HHC or hexahydrocannabinol is a close relative to THC, but it is a minor cannabinoid. Since it only occurs in minimal quantities in cannabis, the extraction of it has generally not been very cost-effective. However, the extraction process has been refined over the years, thus making HHC a viable alternative to THC.

As far as the United States is concerned, at this time, HHC is totally legal, making it available for purchase. The 2018 Farm Bill states that the hemp plant and all derivatives are legal so long as they contain no more than 0.3% delta 9 THC.

HHC is now being produced and packaged for retail, just like CBD and THC products. That does, however, beg the question, does HHC make you high? After all, if you will be paying the big bucks for it, you’d probably want to get some sort of effect from it.

Here’s everything you need to know about HHC’s effects.

Looking to try HHC? Delta Munchies has got you covered. Here are our best sellers:

Does HHC Make You High?

Many people ask if HHC makes you high because there are also other cannabinoids that don’t produce any sort of high or psychoactive sensation.

After all, one of the most commonly known and marketed cannabinoids, CBD, does not produce any sort of psychoactive high. Sure, CBD does have many benefits, particularly in terms of relaxation, pain relief, and more, but it doesn’t get you high.

That said, HHC is different, and it is much more closely related to THC than CBD, and of course, THC does get you high, very much so in fact. The two most common types of THC in weed are delta 9 THC and delta 8 THC

Delta 9 THC is the strongest of the bunch and is well-known for producing some very strong highs. So, the bottom line here is that, yes, HHC does get you high, although it’s not going to be quite the same as with THC, particularly in terms of potency, although many people do still feel relaxed and euphoric when having consumed HHC.

What Does an HHC High Feel Like?

First and foremost, what you always need to keep in mind when discussing HHC is that it hasn’t been studied very widely. Research on the HHC cannabinoid has only been taking place for a relatively short period.

Yes, its benefits and properties have been researched, but as far as things like focus groups and clinical studies with real people are concerned, to determine what the high feels like, there isn’t much to go on.

However, HHC has been available for some time now, so plenty of people have experimented with it. So, although scientific evidence of what exactly an HHC high feels like is limited, there is certainly plenty of anecdotal evidence and first-hand accounts from people who consume or have consumed HHC.

By all accounts, the high people feel from HHC is similar to that of THC, particularly delta 9 THC. Many say that the HHC high feels somewhere between the delta 8 and delta 9 THC high, a bit stronger than delta 8 but a bit weaker than delta 9.

In terms of what people actually feel when using HHC, the effects are similar, if not the same, as those of THC, just not quite as strong. People report sensations of happiness and euphoria, relaxation, and everything else that THC does.

Users also report feeling intoxicated, with effects such as couchlock, general heaviness and decreased cognitive abilities all being common effects of HHC.

Moreover, just like THC has some less than enjoyable side effects, so does HHC. This usually includes side effects such as paranoia, anxiety, insomnia, red and dry eyes, cottonmouth, and sometimes even insomnia.

Does HHC Cause a Psychoactive High?

Related to the above section, what you really want to know here is if HHC produces a psychoactive high. In other words, as with THC, does HHC make you high? Does it make you feel intoxicated?

It’s a fair question because, after all, certain cannabinoids like CBD do not produce a psychoactive high. Luckily for any people thinking of consuming HHC, yes, it does produce a psychoactive high. It is intoxicating, just like THC, but milder.

HHC may make you feel happy, euphoric, talkative, giggly, hungry, and more, and yes, it will make you feel stoned in general, that lethargic couchlock feeling that makes you want to sit around, binge a show, and eat a couple dozen snacks.

How Potent is HHC?

Scientific research and anecdotal first-hand evidence indicate that HHC is about 70% to 80% as potent as THC. In other words, although HHC will get you high in a psychoactive manner, the effects usually aren’t quite as strong.

Many people like this because it produces sensations of euphoria and happiness, but often without that extreme lethargy associated with strong THC highs. On that note, people also report that they often feel fewer negative side effects when consuming HHC than THC, less paranoia and anxiety mainly.

Therefore, if you are looking for something that can get you pleasantly stoned without blowing you right out of the water, HHC is a good alternative to THC to consider.

This begs the question, where can you find HHC products?
