We all need to let loose once in a while. Some turn to a beer and a pack of smokes, while others seek solace in cannabis.

If you “like to mow the lawn” and want to keep a level head after hitting the bong, there are ways to do it discreetly! Paying attention to your physical appearance and concealing traces of weed smell will only get you so far – you need to learn how to calm yourself down and eliminate behavioral signs.

Luckily, that’s our main topic of discussion in this article. Keep reading to learn how you look when high and how to hide it like a pro!

How You Look When High

So, how does it look when you’re high? Usually, a potent high is accompanied by behavioral and physical signs. Depending on your cannabis intake, you’re most likely to experience some or all of the following:

  • Increased heart rate
  • Tiredness and fatigue
  • Excessive hunger
  • Lethargic body movements
  • Cottonmouth
  • Anxiety and paranoia

Your physical appearance will be altered by:

  • Red or bloodshot eyes
  • A potent weed scent on your clothes

You’ll also have difficulty speaking and staying focused when conversing or performing a task. You’ll move slowly, and your coordination may be off.

Just imagine how a drunk person looks minus the smell of alcohol and inevitable dizziness, and you’ll have a general idea of how you might appear when high.

Signs That You’re Not High but Greened Out

If you’re experiencing most of the aftereffects listed above and some more, you may have accidentally “greened out.” This is a term used when a smoker takes more than the recommended cannabis dosage and ends up feeling sick to the point of extreme nausea.

So, being cautious is a prerequisite to a safe and comfortable high. You can ensure you’ve taken all safety measures before smoking by:

  • Bringing your weight into account
  • Consuming the minimal suggested dosage
  • Getting a friend to watch over you
  • Staying hydrated and eating

How to Not Act High

Appearing sober and fully functioning may require some acting skills on your part. Thankfully, we’re here to give you a few pointers on how not to act high.

If you’ve taken some delta 8 for anxiety, you’ll want to sit down and let loose. You can’t be obsessing over your high right now – you’ve got things to do and people to see! So, focus on your breathing instead.

Sit or stand up comfortably – you can even lie down if you want; just be careful not to become couch-locked! You’ll want to divert your attention to your breathing by placing one hand on your stomach and one on your chest.

Then, you’ll start taking deep breaths and notice your body movements as you inhale and exhale. Do this as long as it feels good – soon enough, you’ll regain some clarity and will be able to move on to the other steps.

How to Hide Being High

Once you’ve calmed down and become more aware of your surroundings, you’ll want to hide the high physically. Step one is to mask your smell – you can do this by using a vape pen since it’s less pungent than straight-up smoking weed. Edibles are even better and will prevent the smell altogether.

Bloodshot eyes are another dead giveaway that someone’s high – grab some eye drops or an ice pack to place on your eyes to shrink the blood vessels.

If you don’t have any of the above, a pair of sunglasses can do wonders. Wearing them at night might look weird, but it’s better than showing up with red eyes. Plus, you can always claim you’re making a fashion statement!

You also want to avoid making a big deal out of the situation. People close to you will quickly tell that something’s off, and the jig will be up! Act as naturally as possible and just be yourself.

Finally, don’t forget to drink lots of water – it’s a ready-made solution for a high. You’ll prevent a dry mouth and lightheadedness – one of the many signs that point to dehydration.

How to Relax When High

Hopefully, you’ve learned how to hide being high. Still, depending on how much THC you take and your tolerance, the delta 8 euphoria may last up to ten hours! It’s important to take measures to relax and let loose until the high wears off.

You can do the following:

Take a Walk

There’s nothing like a relaxing walk in nature. Even if you live in the city, you can take a stroll around the neighborhood and get some fresh air – it’ll recharge your batteries and restore some of your vigor by the time you get back.

Chat With a Friend or Trip Sitter

You should always have a trip sitter by your side when smoking, especially if you’re new to it. This person will ensure your safety and take measures if things get out of hand. The trip sitter should not smoke under any circumstances – they’re there simply to take care of you.

You can also try hitting the bong with a more experienced smoker while chit-chatting. They’ll help you not overconsume and remain focused and clear-headed.

Pet Your Cat/Dog or Any Dog!

A dog is man’s best friend, and your furry little friend can help at least take your mind off the euphoria for a while. Give them some friendly pets, and let their smiling face and calming demeanor do the rest!

But be careful not to bring your pet near the smoke – they have more prominent CB1 and CB2 receptors than us and are significantly smaller. Chances are, if the weed amount is too much for you, it’ll have an even worse effect on your pet.

Stay Hydrated With Some Water

Smokers often experience cottonmouth, meaning their mouth turns dry due to the absence of saliva. To prevent a dry mouth and hydrate your body, we recommend chugging some water and water only.

Steer clear from any beverages containing stimulants, such as coffee or energy drinks. You can’t counter the effects of one stimulant with the effects of another!

Eat Pine Nuts

As unusual as it may sound, pine nuts can do wonders in mitigating a weed high. They contain the compound pinene – a terpene that gives cannabis smoke the pine aroma.

Interestingly enough, this compound also has a calming effect on the body and mind and can reduce general feelings of uneasiness.

Black Pepper for Anxiety

Black pepper is another quick fix for a cannabis high, thanks to the pinene and caryophyllene in its composition. Eating black peppers or smelling some ground pepper can soothe feelings of anxiety and paranoia.

Drink Something Lemon-y (Limonene)

A lemonade or even a lemon on its own can mitigate the effects of a marijuana high. Lemons contain limonene – a terpene known as a stress reliever for weed smokers.

Even better if you get some lemon zest. Smell it and chew it for better chances of getting limonene in your system.

Have Some CBD

CBD is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid believed to possess relaxation properties. It can counteract the effects of THC by slowing down your heart rate and reducing anxiety, paranoia, and other effects that come with THC use.

You can take CBD in the form of:

  • A capsule
  • An edible
  • A tincture

Consider the CBD concentration and choose a product according to your tolerance before purchasing. Starting with 5mg and sticking with this dosage for the first couple of days is best for beginners. You can gradually increase the dose as you get accustomed to the cannabinoid’s effects.

Watch a Pleasant TV Show or Long Movie

If you want to shift your focus to something else, you may want to put on that TV show you’ve been putting off for a while or run a Star Wars marathon – you’ll be able to concentrate on the story instead of thinking about how high you are.

Keep Your Mind Distracted

If you’re already high and in the presence of some fun weed buddies, you may want to try out some games – such as the Weed Olympics. Just set obstacles all over the apartment using pillow forts and misplaced chairs. Soon enough, the entire room will burst with laughter while each of you takes a turn and collapses under the cushions!

Do Some Art!

Keeping yourself busy is the best way to mitigate a high, and why not do it by adding a touch of creativity to it? You can do some painting to relax and translate your thoughts onto a piece of paper.

You don’t have to be Da Vinci to have fun creating – just let the blunt do the thinking and the brush the talking! Not only will this de-stress you, but you’ll also emphasize your artistic abilities (which unsurprisingly skyrocket under the influence of cannabis).

Fill That Belly

Did you know that THC causes smokers to get “the munchies?” That’s right – the active ingredient in cannabis is a well-known appetite stimulant, so you may notice your belly growling soon after a smoking sesh.

This is completely normal – the THC triggers your brain’s olfactory bulb receptors that dictate how you sense food. Therefore, you’ll feel a sudden hunger rush, and everything will smell and taste better – even if you had eaten right before smoking.

Don’t be afraid to indulge in some of your guilty pleasures, such as pastry or a pack of sour gummies. You can also make some mac and cheese or grab a burger – whatever scratches your itch!

Relax

Finally, you don’t have to go to extreme lengths to ease your high – you can just sit back, kick your feet up, and relax! Try not to overstimulate yourself or overwhelm your brain with needless thoughts. Instead, grab a nice book and get cozy until the high wears off completely.
